Adverse Event

An adverse event is an unwanted medical problem that happens during or after a person uses a drug or medical device. A report of an adverse event does not by itself prove that the product caused the problem. Regulators, manufacturers, physicians, and attorneys review timing, medical history, alternative causes, scientific studies, and patterns across many reports to evaluate whether a safety signal or causal relationship may exist.
