Birth Injury

A birth injury is harm to a baby that occurs before, during, or shortly after delivery. The term can include brain injury, nerve injury, fractures, and other conditions. Some birth injuries result from unavoidable complications or underlying medical conditions. Others may warrant investigation when warning signs were missed, treatment was delayed, or accepted medical practices were not followed. Medical records and qualified expert review are usually needed to evaluate negligence and causation.
