Certificate of Qualified Expert
A certificate of a qualified expert is a filing required in many Maryland medical injury claims. In general, the claimant’s qualified health care expert must attest that the defendant departed from applicable standards of care and that the departure proximately caused the alleged injury. Maryland law sets deadlines and qualifications for the expert and usually requires an attached report. The exact requirements and exceptions are technical, so a case-specific legal review is important.
