Chorioamnionitis

Chorioamnionitis is inflammation, usually related to infection, involving the membranes around the fetus and the amniotic fluid. Signs can include maternal fever, uterine tenderness, foul-smelling fluid, or an elevated heart rate in the mother or fetus. It can increase risks for both parent and baby. A legal review considers symptoms, test results, antibiotics, labor management, newborn care, and whether any departure from accepted care caused or worsened an injury.
