Distracted Driving
Distracted driving is operating a vehicle while attention is diverted from the driving task. Distractions can be visual, manual, or cognitive and may involve a phone, navigation system, food, passengers, work activity, or another source. A claim may use phone records, vehicle data, video, witness statements, admissions, and crash reconstruction. A distraction matters legally when the evidence connects it to unsafe driving and the collision.
