Economic Damages

Economic damages compensate for measurable financial losses caused by an injury or death. They can include past and future medical expenses, rehabilitation, attendant care, lost earnings, and loss of earning capacity. Proof can come from bills, wage records, tax documents, medical opinions, life-care plans, and economic analysis. Maryland law defines and treats economic damages differently from noneconomic and punitive damages, and the available categories depend on the claim.
