Non-Arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy (NAION)

Non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy is sudden damage to the optic nerve associated with inadequate blood flow. It can cause painless vision loss, often in one eye, and has recognized medical risk factors. NAION can arise without a single identifiable cause. In drug litigation, a legal and medical review considers diagnosis, timing of use, dose, health history, alternative risk factors, scientific studies, and whether the evidence supports both general and individual causation.
