Verdict
A verdict is the formal decision reached by a jury on the questions submitted at trial. It may address liability, damages, or both. In a bench trial, the judge makes findings and enters a judgment rather than a jury verdict. A verdict can be followed by post-trial motions, reduction under a damages cap, entry of judgment, or appeal. It does not always mark the final end of a case.
