Justice for Survivors: The Case of Dan P. Stallings’ Child Sexual Abuse Claims
Holding Abusers Accountable, Supporting Survivors
A 72-year-old former deacon has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexually abusing two girls several years ago—one of whom was a family member and the other a parishioner. Multiple child sexual abuse claims were made against Dan P. Stallings.
Dan P. Stallings, who previously served as a deacon at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Silver Spring, was taken into custody in December following a report filed by his relative. In March, Stallings pleaded guilty to five counts of incest and one count of fourth-degree sexual assault.
According to prosecutors, Stallings admitted to abusing his female relative starting in 1967, when she was just 11 years old. The abuse persisted until 1973, ending when she graduated from high school. Prosecutors stated that Stallings raped her more than 60 times and threatened that if she disclosed the abuse, she would be taken away from her family.
