$2,000,000 HIE Brain Injury During Delayed Delivery
The mother’s pregnancy was complicated by gestational diabetes, which caused the maternal-fetal medicine specialist to advise c-section delivery. However, OB/GYN determined an induced vaginal delivery was appropriate. The mother pushed for over 2 hours, followed by the OB/GYN attempting vacuum-assisted delivery, which failed, and the baby was ultimately pulled from the birth canal by the OB/GYN, blue and non-responsive. The baby suffered HIE brain injury during this delayed delivery and suffered permanent brain damage. The case was settled before trial.
